Read: Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Remember July: warm, sunny, with blue skies and green trees? I began sharing “Word Verses” – one verse from the Old Testament, and one from the New Testament each month for our reflection. In February our Word Verse is, “Thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” I want to remind us of the path we’ve walked together in God’s word; this week we look back on the Old Testament Word Verses; next week we’ll remember the New Testament ones.
July – Isaiah 40:8
“The grass withers, the flower fades; but the word of our God will stand forever.”
August – Psalm 136:1
“O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”
September – Genesis 1:1
“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”
October – Psalm 133:1 (NIRV)
How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in peace!
November – Isaiah 52:7
“How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the messenger who announces peace, who brings good news, who announces salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”
December 2018 – Isaiah 9:6
“For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
God’s word and wisdom are intended to illumine our path in life. Light gives us vision, helps prevent stumbling, enables useful, productive efforts, and dispels fear and anxiety of the unknown.
May God’s word be the light you care each day.
Shalom, Pastor Rob
