As we like to say “The Church has left the Building.” It would be impossible to list all the ways AUMC is working out in the community but here is a list that we are particularly proud of:
Auburn Community Food Pantry
Auburn United Methodist Church is the central hub for the Auburn Community Food Pantry, we are supported by the churches of the Auburn area, along with the local schools, businesses, and individuals. If you would like to make a donation to the Food Pantry please contact the church office at 989-662-6314. If you are in need of food assistance please call the 989-545-1253 to obtain a referral from the Bay County Emergency Food Pantry.
In 2018 the Auburn Community Food Pantry provided 5,043 meals to 285 families (895 people). Thank you to everyone for their generous support to help refill the Food Pantry and for your continues support of this mission.
Auburn United Methodist Church does not give any type of cash assistance, help with utility payments, gas cards, etc. If you are in need of financial assistance please call the the Michigan Connect Hotline at 888-636-4211 or contact one of these of other local agencies.
One Week One Street
One Week, One Street is a yearly local mission project in east Saginaw providing an opportunity for Great Lakes Bay Churches and other organizations to respond to the call to “love our Neighbors as ourselves”. This is accomplished by painting homes, clearing brush, landscaping yards, repairing porches and other minor exterior home repairs. Adults and youth group are encouraged to come and demonstrate God’s love.
Helen Nickless Volunteer Clinic
Helen Nickless Clinic is a free clinic located on Center Avenue in Essexville Michigan (Across the street from DHS). It is open on Wednesday evenings and works on a “take a number” system. For more information about the FREE clinic view a flyer here.
AUMC provides meals for the staff at this free clinic many times throughout the year. We also have doctors from our church that have or do volunteer to staff this clinic. If you would like more information please visit their web page sponsored by McLaren Bay Region here.
MidWest Mission Distribution Center
MMDC provides opportunities for individuals and groups of all walks of life, denominational backgrounds, abilities, and ages to help provide disaster relief, education and medical supplies to those in need both locally, nationally and internationally. MMDC provides a “hands on” mission experience. For those receiving the supplies, we are bringing hope that someone somewhere loves them.
AUMC has a sewing group that meets monthly at AUMC to make clothes, bibs, diapers and other items for those in need. We also have many people who volunteer at the distribution center in Illinois for a week or month at a time. For more information on the Distribution Center visit their website at http://www.midwestmission.org/welcome.
